Cottbus (polaco Chociebuż), es una ciudad en el Este de Estado federal Brandenburgo y tiene el estatus de ciudad libre (kreisfreie Stadt).

Historia

Tras el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial el territorio fue ocupado por el ejército Rojo y poco después paso a integrar la República Democrática Alemana (RDA) hasta la Reunificación alemana|desaparición de esta en 1990.

Desde 1976, Cottbus es una gran ciudad al alcanzar más de 100 000 habitantes. Es una ciudad centro de administración, ciencias y servicios.

Geografía

Clima


La ciudad se encuentra en una zona templada, a 75 m sobre el nivel del mar. Las lugar geográfico son 51°46'N und 14°20'O.

La temperatura media anual se encuentra en 8.9 grados centígrados. El mes más caluroso es en julio con 18.4 °C. El mes más frío es enero con -0.8 °C de temperatura promedio. La diferencia entre las temperaturas máxima y mínima, conocida como amplitud, es de 19.2 °C.

La precipitación media anual es de 565 milímetros. La mayor parte de las lluvias ocurren en agosto con 69 milimetros en promedio; febrero es el mes con la menor cantidad de lluvia en promedio con 30 milímetros. Durante todo el año ocurren precipitaciones, pero en el verano son más elevadas. El clima es con ello durante todo el año clima húmedo|húmedo. Con ello en Cottbus no hay temporada seca ni temporada de lluvias.

Economía

Cottbus al igual que la mayor parte de las ex-RDA ha vivido una difícil progresión económica, si bien la situación ha mejorado globalmente. Sin embargo la región ostenta uno de los niveles de riqueza más bajos del país a pesar de las constantes subvenciones del Política de Alemania|gobierno federal y de la Unión Europea (UE).
