Eisenach es una ciudad del estado federado alemán de Turingia.
Historia
El ducado de Sajonia-Eisenach se constituye como principado independiente en 1572.
En el siglo XVI, Martín Lutero tradujo el Nuevo Testamento al alemán.
En 1869, en Eisenach, se realizó la fundación del Partido Socialdemócrata de Alemania (SPD).
A partir de 1949 Turingia formó parte de la República Democrática Alemana (RDA).
Economía
Tras la reunificación alemana de 1990, la región que acoge a la ciudad ha vivido una dispar progresión económica y la situación ha mejorado globalmente. Sin embargo, Eisenach ostenta uno de los niveles de riqueza más bajos del país a pesar de las constantes subvenciones del Política de Alemania|gobierno federal y de la Unión Europea (UE).
