Fulda es una ciudad Alemania|alemana en el estado de Hesse, sobre el río Fulda.
Historia
Existía aquí una fortificación desde la época merovingia.
San Bonifacio fundó la abadía de Fulda en el año 744, en la que fue enterrado en 754. En torno a ella se iría formando una aglomeración urbana. El segundo abad del monasterio fue Baugulfo.
Fulda fue visitada hacia el año 965 por el viajero hispano-judío Ibrahim ibn Ya'qub, quien describe la abadía y los tesoros de la iglesia. Comenta que la ciudad (refiriéndose al monasterio) está habitada solo por religiosos, y que las mujeres no pueden ingresar a ella.
