Weymouth: Guide

Weymouth es una ciudad situada en la costa Sur de Inglaterra, concretamente en el condado de Dorset. Su población es de aproximadamente 70.000 habitantes.

El pueblo tiene un importante puerto, unido al centro de la ciudad, con varias calles peatonales, que continúan hasta The Explanade, el paseo marítimo que recorre varios kilómetros de costa junto a una playa de arenas finas y aguas frías donde la marea tiende a bajar notablemente.

El punto de encuentro, el más conocido en Weymouth es el Jubilee clock, un reloj de unos 10 metros de altura, de colores rojos y azules, que fue construido en honor de los fallecidos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Por lo general en la ciudad las construcciones son casas bajas, con pequeñas parcelas de jardín, por lo que la extension total de la ciudad se prolonga hacia el interior y a lo largo de la costa en bastantes kilómetros.

Weymouth está unido a la pequeña isla de Portland por un farallón de arena, allí, entre otras cosas se encuentra la "Sailing Academy" un moderno edificio de navegación, que será utilizado en los Juegos Olímpicos que se celebraran en 2012 en la capital, Londres.
