Ciudad del Cabo: Guide
Ciudad del Cabo (en inglés Cape Town) es una de las tres capitales de Sudáfrica (junto con Pretoria y Bloemfontein), y capital de la Organización político-administrativa de Sudáfrica|provincia Provincia del Cabo Occidental|del Cabo Occidental. Es la sede del Parlamento y tiene una población de alrededor de 2.9 millones de habitantes (cálculos de 2001).
Más que la mitad son mestizados llamados coloured (Gente de la ascendencia mezclada). Casi La el resto es cualquier africanos negros que pertenecen al grupo del Xhosa o blancos que son descente europeo.
Es, para muchos, la más hermosa ciudad del país. Prueba de ello son los millares de turistas que recibe anualmente, atraídos por la magnificencia del paisaje, el originalísimo Table Mountain ("Monte Mesa"), a cuyos pies se encuentra la ciudad, las tranquilas playas que hay hasta 50 km a la redonda, una excelente infraestructura de hoteles y su índice relativamente bajo de delincuencia, si se lo compara con el resto de Sudáfrica.
En Robben Island (lit. isla de las focas), una isla muy cercana a Ciudad del Cabo, estuvo preso por largo tiempo, el líder del movimiento anti-apartheid y Premio Nobel de la Paz, Nelson Mandela.
